Chapter 12

Abhimaan' s pov

I stepped out of the shower, feeling refreshed . As I wrapped a towel around my waist, my phone rang. I groaned, seeing my secretary's name on the screen.

"Sir, we have a problem," Rohan said, his voice tight with urgency. "The Smith deal is in jeopardy. Our rivals have somehow gotten hold of our proposal and are trying to undercut us."

I clenched my jaw, anger rising. "How did this happen? Who did this?

I thought we had a secure team."

We're investigating, but we suspect there's someone in your company working against us.it seems he/she has been feeding information to our rivals. They know our entire strategy for the deal."  He said

"I knew it. That damn traitor. Scrap the project immediately.change the project and make new one and  Send me the details. And make sure no one else knows about this."

But,, sir, this is a huge change at the last minute—"

"I don't pay you to question me, I pay you to deliver results. Get it done. And remember, I'll be personally overseeing this project now. No one else is to be involved and Find out who the mole is. I want their name, and I want it today."

"Yes, sir it will be ready" Rohan Said

"I'll take care of that bastard myself. Tomorrow."

I disconnected the call, my mind already focused on the next move. No one crossed Abhimaan and got away with it. No one.

Just as I ended the call, my phone rang again. This time, it was my father's name on the screen i cut the call The phone rang again, and I let it go to voicemail. And again. And again. Each time, I felt my irritation grow. I sighed, and picked up the call.

"why are you cutting my calls?'  he asked

"What do you want? I asked my irritation seeped through.

"If I'm calling, it's because something is important" he said, his voice firm but with an undercurrent of annoyance.

"If I'm not answering your calls, it's because I'm busy,' i retorted,

"Your mom and I are coming to your penthouse to discuss something important. Be available."

I rolled my eyes, feeling frustrated. "I said I'm busy, Father. Can't it wait?"

He ignored my protest. "We'll be there in an hour. Be ready."

I slammed  my phone down and curses under his breath. I know what he want to talk about. They're relentless. I can't stand the thought of being tied down. Why couldn't he just leave me alone? I had more important things to deal with than whatever family drama he was stirring up now.

Prajakta's pov

I sat on my bed, scrolling mindlessly through my phone. My mom walked in, a look of disapproval on her face.

"Prajakta, what are you doing? You're always on that phone. You're wasting your time," she said

I sighed, knowing this conversation was coming. "Maa, I'm just taking a break. I've been studying all day."

"A break? You've been on that phone for hours! You know we want you to be successful and independent. We don't have anyone else to rely on. Your father will be retiring soon, and we need you to be secure."

I rolled my eyes, feeling frustrated. "Maa, I know. But I'm not wasting my time. I'm just relaxing."

"Relaxing? You call this relaxing? What will you do when we're not here to support you? You need to focus on your studies and get a job. Everyone will be successful, and then you'll regret not putting in the effort."

I felt a pang of guilt, knowing she was right. But I was tired of being constantly pushed to do more.

"Prajakta, we just want the best for you. We've struggled so much in our lives, and we don't want you to face the same difficulties. Your father's health is not good, and I'm worried about our future. Please, beta, listen to us and focus on your studies. Get a good job, and make us proud."

I looked at her, seeing the worry lines on her face. I knew they wanted the best for me, but sometimes their pressure felt suffocating.

"Okay, Maa. I'll try. But please, just support me and trust me to make my own decisions."

She nodded, hugging me tightly. "We trust you, Prajakta. We just want you to be happy and successful. And you can't stay here forever. If you get a job and don't want to marry, that's okay. But if you don't do anything, we don't have the capability to make you stay here forever. We'll get you married soon, and you'll have to leave anyway."

I pulled back, feeling a surge of anxiety. "Maa, I don't want to get married. Please ."

She looked at me, her eyes filled with a mix of sadness  "We'll see, beta. We'll see..

Abhimaan's pov

I heard the doorbell ring and knew my parents had arrived. I took a deep breath, preparing myself for the inevitable confrontation. I made my way downstairs, where my parents were waiting in the living room. My mom smiled and opened her arms, and I hugged her tightly, asking how she was doing. I deliberately ignored my father, not wanting to give him the satisfaction of getting a rise out of me.

But he wouldn't be ignored. "Abhimaan, we need to talk," he said, his voice firm and commanding.

I sighed and sat down, knowing this wasn't going to be a pleasant conversation. "What is it, Father?"

He didn't beat around the bush. "Who is the girl with you in the car? The one who's been all over the news? Is that Sanaya?"

I shrugged, trying to appear nonchalant. "It's none of your business."

He slammed his fist on the table. "Everything related to you is my business! You think I don't know what's going on? You were with Sanaya at the party, and now there are rumors about you two. I don't want this to spoil your impression and the company's reputation."

I clenched my fists, feeling my anger rising. "I told you before, Father, there's nothing between Sanaya and me.I think I made this clear, and I went there because you sent me. I don't care what rumors are spreading."

He glared at me. "You don't care, but I do. It will spoil your impression and the company's reputation. I don't want this to happen, and you think I don't know what you have been doing...  "You have two weeks to introduce me to the girl you're interested in.I'm giving you two weeks, not more than that. Or else, you know what I can do."

I stood up, my eyes flashing with anger. "If you're done, you can leave now."

My mom intervened, her voice soft but firm. "Abhimaan, behave yourself. Your father is only worried about you."

My father stormed out of the room, leaving us in an uncomfortable silence. My mom broke it, her voice gentle. "Abhimaan, why are you behaving like this with your father? It hurts to see you both like this. Can't you forgive him?"

"Mom, can we not talk about this right now? Please?"

She nodded and said "Okay,But tell me, who is the girl your father is talking about? Won't you tell me?" my mom asked, pouting in the cutest way possible.

I smiled and said, "I'll tell you, Mom, but I can't tell you now."

She pouted even more, her eyes sparkling with curiosity. " So You won't tell me? Is it not even me?

Mom, don't do this! I'll tell you soon, I promise," I said, trying to reassure her.

"But why not now?"

"Mom, trust me, I'll tell you soon. Just not now, okay?" I said, trying to placate her.

She sighed and nodded, but I could see the disappointment in her eyes. "Okay, dear. But soon, okay?"

I nodded, feeling a sense of relief. "Soon, Mom. I promise."
